Rachel Fletcher
- Speech Pathologist
Rachel is a Speech Pathologist and member of Speech Pathology Australia with five years clinical experience. Rachel also has experience in working as a support worker and education assistant. Rachel can provide services to clients who have a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) through Medicare and to those who are NDIS plan or self-managed. Rachel has specialties and passionate interests in supporting complex communication needs in neurodevelopmental and acquired neurodivergence including but not limited to Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia.
With a strong foundation in Evidence Based Practice (EBP) and a commitment to holistic care, Rachel believes that effective communication is a two-way street and is not solely the responsibility of the individual with a communication difference to adapt. With a passion for education and upskilling, Rachel not only empowers individuals but also supports caregivers, families, and support networks, emphasizing understanding, respect, and collaboration, ensuring that everyone involved feels equipped to facilitate meaningful communication. Through these neuro-affirming practices, Rachel’s professional and personal goals are to foster an environment where every voice is heard and valued, as the disability rights saying goes “nothing about us, without us”. Rachel also has personal experience in and identifies as Neurodivergent (AuDHD).
Outside of the clinic Rachel enjoys spending time in nature, with animals, reading, making craft, and gardening. Rachel will be working with the guinea pigs at Warrandyte clinic. Rachel has always wanted to work with animals from a young age and so is looking forward to combining her passion for animals and supporting people’s communication at Mullum Road. Rachel also has experience in Therapeutic Horticulture or garden therapy and is comfortable having therapeutic sessions outdoors or while walking. Rachel is excited to raise and maintain a veggie patch at Warrandyte clinic for the Guinea pigs, other animals and people alike to benefit from. If this sounds of interest to you please get in touch!
