Priscila Coelho

Psychologist

Priscila is a psychologist, registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi), and is currently completing her training in EMDR therapy.

Priscila’s professional experience encompasses a diverse clientele, ranging from young people to individuals 60+. She has experience in addressing and advocating for various presentations, including neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism, as well as mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, gender-related concerns, significant life transitions, and interpersonal relationship challenges. Priscila also offers a neuro-affirming approach to autism assessment, focused on adolescent and adult populations, with a particular interest in female, non-binary and gender diverse peoples.

Priscila offers a warm and relational environment, grounded in a strengths-based perspective. She strongly aligns with a trauma informed and client-led approach to therapy. Drawing from an eclectic framework, she engages various therapeutic modalities including, psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, somatics, self-compassion, inner child and parts work, guided visualisation, art therapy, dream analysis, and aspects of EMDR. Through this eclectic approach Priscila aims to promote self-compassion, self-determination, enhanced healthy self-image, and support positive interpersonal relationships and attachment.

Priscila’s previous experience includes working at RMIT student counselling, providing support to both domestic and international students dealing with adjustment issues and other personal and educational concerns. Creating a safe, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive space is of utmost importance to Priscila. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and an ally to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, neurodiverse, and immigrant communities, Priscila is dedicated to fostering inclusivity. Fluent in Portuguese, she can effectively work with clients if this is their preferred language.

In her spare time, Priscila enjoys spending time in nature; camping and hiking, reading, writing, listening to an eclectic range of music, and spending time with friends and family.
