Occupational Therapist

Claire’s focus is on occupational function in daily life where she works to support individuals to perform the skills they want to, need to or are expected to perform. Her work with adults and children alike includes the support of individual engagement in areas of personal interest. She works to empower individuals to do the things they want and need to do. Using a holistic approach, she establishes a positive therapeutic connection where she facilitates a process of growth always validating lived experience and the positives of diverse ways of being in the world.

Based on a comprehensive assessment and working within a goal directed and strength-based framework she works with individuals to understand the routines and habits of their daily life. She aims to support growth as needed in areas of daily living and engagement in activities. This includes leisure, school and work activities as well as self-care and the skills of independence.

Claire has a career background in mental health and educational settings where she has worked for more than 15 years. She has always worked collaboratively with individuals, their families and wider networks of support.

She aims to support individuals with practical and realistic interventions that will support the achievement of client-centred and meaningful goals.

Away from work Claire enjoys spending time with her extended family, swimming every week in the ocean and climbing the mountains of Tasmania. She has a strong personal connection with the natural world, animals and outdoor activities.

Claire is a registered Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA). She also holds a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and a Masters of Teaching.
