Caila Nam
Provisional Psychologist
Caila brings a unique blend of clinical expertise and multicultural understanding to her role as a provisional psychologist. With extensive experience as a social worker in mental health settings, including hospital-based work with both adults and children, she now pursues her Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology at Monash University. Her current research focuses on primary school non-attendance, collaborating with school mental health practitioners to better understand and address this challenge.
Drawing from her diverse professional background, Caila specialises in working with neurodevelopmental conditions and various mental health presentations. Her experience spans both clinical and community settings, including valuable work as a Local Area Coordinator within the NDIS framework, where she supported families in accessing and navigating the complex scheme. She has developed a particular interest in comprehensive assessments and understanding the interconnected needs of individuals and families.
As a Korean-English bilingual practitioner who has lived across multiple countries, Caila offers a culturally informed approach to therapy. She deeply understands the complexities of navigating different cultural contexts and uses this insight to create meaningful connections with her clients.
Caila’s therapeutic style centres on fostering genuine relationships and creating an environment where clients feel truly heard and supported. She believes in the transformative power of therapy and tailors her approach to each individual’s unique needs and circumstances.
When not at the clinic, Caila recharges by spending quality time with her family, discovering new stories through reading, soaking in the serenity of beach visits, and unwinding with her favourite Netflix shows.
