Naomi Smith
Occupational Therapist
Naomi is an Occupational Therapist (OT) with a Master’s degree from Monash University. She works with a diverse range of clients, including NDIS participants, privately funded individuals, and those on a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) through Medicare.
She has extensive experience across various roles, including in-home and community support, forensic mental health, and disability support. With a background in fine arts, Naomi enjoys bringing creativity into therapy.
Naomi believes well-being isn’t just built in therapy but through daily routines, habits, and how one navigates challenges. She loves thinking outside the box and adapting her approach to find what truly works for an individual. Her aim is to have clients feel fulfilled rather than just ticking boxes. She prioritises them as experts in their own life, helping them reflect on different aspects and explore what a healthy balance could look like.
Naomi values the power of actively engaging in doing, rather than solely providing advice. Sessions can be interactive and involve art, sensory experiences, nature-based activities, walking, or any task that is personally meaningful to the individual.
Naomi has a deep understanding of how trauma and complex life experiences affect mental health and daily function. This understanding was particularly shaped by her experience in the prison system. She takes a strong advocacy-based approach, reaching out to other supports to ensure clients access the care and resources they need.
Outside of work, Naomi enjoys hiking, camping, and various creative pursuits. Her therapeutic approach is down-to-earth and engaging, with sessions tailored to individual interests and a focus on meaningful progress.
