TRAINING
Our two therapy dogs and Psychologists attended the six day Foundation AAI (Animal Assisted Interventions) and Therapy-Dog certification course, in the first week of June. This is run by Lead The Way, in conjunction with Alpha Canine Professional dog training. This replaced the previous five day Intensive Therapy Dog Handlers Course. The course consisted of theory and practical training throughout the six days and on the final day we take the dogs out of the facility to have ‘on the job’ training, visiting with a group of children or an aged care facility. By the end of the course you are qualified to work with your Therapy-Dog in Animal-Assisted Interventions (AAI).
